Background:
I grew up in Waterloo, IA. graduating from West Waterloo. After attending college and living in Waterloo for two years, teaching jobs brought my husband and me to Independence. Here we raised our three daughters who graduated from Independence High School.

- Bachelor of Arts degree in Education: Luther College in Decorah, IA
- Reading Endorsement: University of Northern Iowa
Employment:
- Retired Elementary Teacher: Retired in 2009 after 36 years of teaching (34 years in the Independence Community School District)
